During my recent stay at Schloss Thurnau, I was pleasantly reminded of the charm that this centuries-old castle hotel offers. The friendly staff made my late arrival feel effortless, providing clear instructions on how to access my room. One of the highlights was the breakfast spread—ample choices that would satisfy both the adventurous eater and the picky palate, a true delight! Though the modern design is functional, I did miss the authentic character that one would expect from such a historical venue. Still, the serene atmosphere, especially with not too many guests around, allowed for a peaceful retreat from the bustling tourist hotspots. And, if you find yourself craving a good meal after a day of exploration, the Sattlerei restaurant serves exquisite local dishes by the lakeside—a perfect way to unwind with friends or family. I left with a sense of satisfaction, looking forward to my next visit to this enchanting corner of Bavaria.
